The strangest thing about being home is that it doesn't feel notably different from being home before I left; like pushing play on a movie that's been paused. The time I spent in Oregon and upstate NY may as well have happened in another world, it seems so distant from the here and now. I've got to try to stay focused on maintaining at least some of the energy and inspiration of being immersed in new music, and not settle too deeply into my comfort zone.
I drove out from Saranac Lake late Thursday afternoon, picking up dinner at Taco Bell (for which I will always have a crippling weakness) and buying presents for
sigerson's 28th before heading to
yaoobruni and
kassrachel's, where I spent a lazy weekend there with sigerson (after picking her up from the train station on Friday), doing very little other than attending
woobat's birthday party and eating tasty food. All told, it was exactly what I needed -- three indolent days in the company of friends, with no demands on my energy.
Now it's time to reenter the flow of my life.
