Nov. 30th, 2006 07:34 pmI just got the recording of love is the every only god, and have been listening to it lots.
Lately, when I examine a piece of mine after the fact, it's the small details that make me think, "This is the work of a real composer." In love is..., it's the decision to make this one note a B-natural instead of the B-flat called for by the key signature, to make this note last three eighths long instead of two. In Transmigration, it's the decision to include a D-natural in a C#m7 chord. Obviously, I enjoy the entirety of the pieces, but it's those tiny choices that really seem to matter.
ETA: I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with HTML tags.
