At random...
Oct. 18th, 2005 06:12 pmI went on something of a late '80s retro-pop binge, and having listened to Depeche Mode's Violator and Music for the Masses and New Order's Substance 1987 a fair amount, I propose that these two bands were directly influenced by Gregorian chant, which would make some strange sort of sense considering N.O.'s rise from the ashes of the proto-Goth band Joy Division and D.M.'s Catholic S&M sensibilities...
Also, I've rediscovered David Bowie's Outside, which is an astonishing album. Kian listened to it constantly for a while, and after recently encountering it at random, I picked it up on a lark. It's like pop created by the relentless damned.
