We're still in Allston, so we're looking at BPS and the Conservatory Lab, which is right down the street (though will be moving to Dorchester at some point). Of the public schools nearby, the ones we've most been impressed with are the pilot ones (Baldwin & Gardner), but public funding for daily music isn't really a thing :(
Oh, and I'm not teaching J myself! I'm not good enough to teach beginners, let alone my own children. We take lessons at the school I used to work for, up in Lexington (http://ymsboston.com/).
