Things of note, big and small (mostly small):

J will point at the TV and ask "Dance?", which is a request to start playing Dance Central 2. He'll try to interact with the menus, and though he's too small for the Kinect to pick him up, he's got the mechanics of it down. When we actually start dancing, sometimes he'll sway and bop along, sometimes he'll walk right up to the Kinect and start at it (occluding its view of us), and sometimes he'll have a grand old time trying to squeeze back and forth between our legs. Which is maybe not the best of his ideas.

He can climb ladders now, although it's a hairy process: he'll often lose his footing and slide between the rungs. The things we allow him to climb aren't too far off the ground, but still.

We have a blanket his Nana made that we've taken to putting over him when he sleeps, and he likes to drape it around/over himself. And he, in return, will sometimes wrap his blanket around his stuffed gorilla (which he seems to be growing more attached to) and say "Shh", telling us that gorilla is sleeping.

After a rainstorm some weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] sigerson took him to the park and showed him how to jump and splash in puddles, which has now become another of his favorite activities.

Sometimes it seems as if he's singing, or something close: he'll stomp around the house in time to a rhythmic, specifically inflected chant (that is, of course, incomprehensible to us).

When we're on our laptops, he'll point to the Flickr icon in our browser and ask for "Baby?" when he wants to watch videos of himself. I'm a bit concerned by his narcissism, but that doesn't stop us.

He has a favorite cousin now (or at least can express that he has one), asking for "Allie? Allie?".

So yeah, I guess what a lot of that adds up to is language is becoming more and more of a thing, and he's started to put together two-word sentences ("More juice", "Bye-bye Daddy"). And he can identify quite a few letters, and ask us to sing the TMBG songs associated with them.

Yay for letters and TMBG songs, yay for kids liking to watch videos of themselves, yay for splashing in puddles, yay for J and for the two of you! I can't wait to see you and J later this summer.
